Scavenger Hunt

There isn't really a lot to do in Spokane on a Friday night.  My friends and I usually watch a movie or two and then on Saturday night we do the same thing again.  Yesterday we decided that we had to do something fun and after asking a few girls on our hall what we should do, they recommended a photo scavenger hunt in Downtown Spokane at River Front Park.  They made a list for us and off we went.  It was a lot of fun and a nice break from campus and school work.  I hope you enjoy the photos, we think they're a crack up!

Winter in Spokane

I've never seen so much snow in my life!  I feel like I live at a ski resort or something.  It is very cold (-4 degrees when I woke up this morning) but it is very pretty.  I can't believe the icicles, some of them are over two feet long!  My friends and I have set up a snowball fight when the next fresh dusting of snow arrives.  It will be a nice break from studying for finals.  I have three two hour finals next wednesday (I know what your're thinking, "why is she updating her blog, she should be studying") and one on thursday.  Then its home for two weeks!  Yeah for Christmas!

We docorated my hall the other night, we spent about an hour and a half creating a paper chain that is probably 150ft long.  I don't know why everyone doesn't decorate with butcher paper snowmen and construction paper chains.  Carly gave me her baby Christmas tree so we have a bit of Christmas cheer in our room too.  We are having a big Christmas Tree Lighting celebration in the loop tonight (the loop is the big grassy, or should I say snowy, area in the center of campus), but I'm not sure how long anyone will be able to stay outside.  At least they have free hot chocolate!

Anyhow, things are going well and it all is topped with the perfect amount of stress just to keep me on my toes!  God bless you this Christmas!

College Life

I'm heading home tomarrow for thankgiving break!  It will be so nice to see everyone and take a bit of a break from homework.  I am loving it here at Whitworth.  It took me a solid two months to get used to it, but I now have a routine and solid group of friends.  I'm starting to volunteer my time at New Community Church working with the Middle and High School students.  It is very different from what I'm used to but it is an exciting challenge and eye-opener.  I'm also going to be helping out at the Free Woman and Children's Restaurant that serves dinner twice a week to hungry women and children from the poorer parts of Spokane.  Anyhow, life is pretty exciting on the Eastern side of the mountains and I'm so grateful for the chance to spend time with my family over Thanksgiving!
